A Therapist’s Musings from the Chair
I’ve always loved taking notes.
Most days, I drop thoughts into my Notes app. Tiny fragments. Feelings. Random quote. Later, I shape them into something more whole.
I studied creative nonfiction writing in undergrad, not to become a writer (I think we already are in some way), but to understand the part of me that listens closely. The part that sees metaphor everywhere. Writing helps me stay close to what matters.
These essays are fragments too, inspired by Susan Sontag’s Notes on "Camp" and her way of naming complexity through brief, thoughtful bursts.
In many ways, therapy feels similar. It’s equal parts art and science. Serious in its depth, yet playful and full of life.
And speaking of ‘Camp’... I think therapy itself is CAMP.
It can be big, emotional, and sometimes messy. It’s honest in a way that cuts through the noise. Soft at the center. And maybe a little bold in its belief that change is actually possible. That feels familiar to me.
So, thank you for being here.
